Birth Announcement

This brief asked for a visual announcement of one’s own birth: the hopes and dreams…
what might have been predicted at the moment we arrived.

This design stems from my belief that our lives are governed by a greater force that we as mortals cannot yet understand.

Something magical, mystical, cosmic… if the moon can move entire oceans, surely my existence is also shaped by currents out of my control.

Astrology is one way to offer an explanation.

I used the exact time of my birth and geographic coordinates to generate an astrological chart, mapping out the exact locations of the planets and stars during this time. My chart heavily emphasizes the Sun and Ascendant placements in Leo.

I then used this astrological data to create a contemporary editorial poster borrowing inspiration from Swiss typographic styles.
